It was in June 2021, on the fabulous London roof terrace of our long-standing partner organisation, the global law firm Ashurst, that the EBN came to life.
After a COVID restrained false start, we were up and running and we are delighted to report that many of the people who were on that roof terrace then are still members, friends and commercial partners today.
The EBN has grown, changed and matured in the intervening years and we are proud that we have added more strings to our bow to support our ever-popular events and connections programmes.
One of these is our new Sustainable Solutions scheme.
We challenged our commercial partners to consider how their, undeniably powerful, products and services would move the sustainability dial for EBN members who invested in them.
We asked “can you show how, by buying from you, businesses will be strengthening their sustainability credentials as well as purchasing an excellent product or service?”
And how they responded!
All of our commercial partners are busy working on this project and many have come up with great ideas already.
Over the course of the next few months (and beyond, as new ideas come on stream) we will be shining a light on some of the innovative ideas and solutions our commercial partners have engineered.
We are not claiming these ideas are completely revolutionary but individually and as a collective they will add value to your sustainability strategy through everyday purchasing.
Here are just a few examples:
- Corporate partner Epson’s Heat-Free Technology range is the perfect combination of print excellence, cost saving, and carbon reduction. This innovative range is marketed and sold through an EBN commercial partner and valued Epson channel partner, FUTERA.
- Eden Utilities, a UK wide energy consultancy that goes the extra mile for clients, has developed, with the EBN the Eden Utilities “Energy Basket” which you can learn more about HERE
- Filestream Systems, a leading Electronic Document Management business has created a compelling case for EDMS based on enhancing efficiency and environmental sustainability. Throw in a significant improvement in cybersecurity and your tech security will be in safer hands
Please feel free to approach our commercial partners directly, remembering to mention the EBN, or contact Roger McKerlie on roger@theebn.co.uk and he will steer you in the right direction.
The EBN takes a trip to Epson’s UK headquarters in Watford
“There is a link between economic growth and how the environment is performing” says Taran Rai, Corporate Sustainability Manager, Epson UK Ltd in conversation with EBN Founder Roger McKerlie.
This is a very important statement and one that goes to the heart of what the EBN is all about – embracing sustainability is good for business as well as being vital for the planet.
Roger was invited to the UK HQ of our new corporate partner Epson UK Ltd to see the Epson Heat Free Technology Range in action and it is mighty impressive. We recorded the film below to show what they can do to help add value to your sustainability credentials.
One of the Epson team used a lovely analogy describing the typical office copier and printer as like turning the oven on all day for one baked potato!
Roger was joined by Simon Wright, MPS Sales Director for FUTERA, an EBN Commercial Partner who explained how laser-based technology employed by most of the copier market drives up the cost of electricity and therefore increases carbon.
He also learned that the cost of switching to the Epson Heat Free range will almost certainly be balanced by the financial and carbon savings made, a perceived barrier that Roger, like most business owners, believed exists.
This is no great surprise for a business like Epson UK. As Dan Wogan MPS Sales Specialist for Epson UK says in the film “sustainability is at the heart and soul of our value proposition.”
To find out more about how your business could switch copiers, save money and reduce your carbon footprint ask Roger to make the relevant introduction or contact Simon directly on simon.wright@futera.co.uk and don’t forget to mention the EBN.
